Bloating - A Candidiasis Symptom?

Candida is a condition of the digestive tract that can result in many common digestive symptoms. Bloating usually isn’t considered as a major symptom when you’re dealing with more urgent things like diarrhea, fatigue, thrush, cramps and fatigue, but bloating is a well-known candidiasis symptom.

Candida’s natural job inside the human body is to help in digestion. It helps to ferment food and in the process, it naturally produces carbon dioxide, which causes flatulence. But those that believe that Candida can grow out of control, even inside those with healthy immune systems (something modern medical science strongly believes is impossible) believe that with large amounts of Candida, come large amounts of carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide, in turn, causes severe and sometimes painful bloating.

Candida goes on to irritate the lining of your stomach and intestines so that you aren’t able to properly absorb the nutrients in your food, leading to battles of constipation or diarrhoea. Candida is believed to be the number one cause of IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. What makes Candida so controversial is that as it spreads, it’s believed that the Candida spreads large amounts of toxins in the human body, therefore causing a wide range of symptoms that makes diagnosis essentially impossible.

There are many products on the market that are made to help cure Candida, or at the very least, relieve the symptoms. Probiotics, the ingestion of ‘good’ living bacteria to help fight the bad Candida is a common treatment. But what other options are there out there?

If the idea of swallowing pills containing bacteria freaks you out, there can be other methods of treating Candida overgrowth. The first logical step is to try to reduce the amount of Candida roaming around in your gut. This can be done by literally starving the rapidly breeding Candida to death by changing your diet to include less sugar and carbs. The Candida have a sweet tooth that loves to snack on sugar, just like most of the people it’s affecting. The first and least evasive step is to simply change your diet.

Another step you can take to try to lower the number of Candida swimming around in your body is to try to limit or eliminate antibiotics from your medicine cabinet. It’s believed by those that are suffering from Candida that the biggest culprit in the spread of the disease is that antibiotics are being over-prescribed and overused. The antibiotics kill many of the ‘good’ bacteria in the digestive tract when they are taken to help treat a sickness. It’s thought that this slaughter of the ‘good’ bacteria is what gives Candida the ability to run wild through the body and make you sick. If you don’t want to try probiotics, the next best thing is to simply remove the thing that could be making you sick in the first place.

Again, it can’t be stressed enough that the best thing for anyone who thinks they are suffering from candidiasis symptoms to do is to consult with a doctor before starting any treatment regimen. The more you know about what’s ailing you, the easier it will be to treat and the sooner you’ll feel better.

Are You In The Grip Of Candida?

If you have an ongoing immune problem, it is very possible that you have an overgrowth of Candida.

Candida is a symbiotic yeast, which lives in us and on us, as part of our normal collection of microorganisms. It vies with numerous other microbes, but can become proliferous, causing a number of symptoms.

Some symptoms of Candida are: a good deal of fatigue and problems with concentration and short-term memory. You may experience flu-like symptoms such as pain in the joints and muscle.

You could have a problem with hyper-acidity/acid reflux. Chronic sinus problems are not uncommon if you have Candida and headaches including migraines may be part of your symptoms.

Also you will probably notice a brown colored mucus in the back of the throat, blisters in the mouth/tongue/throat, or a white coating to the tongue, especially the back part.

You may also suffer from mental emotional problems such as depression, irritability, anxiety, panic attacks, recurring obsessive thoughts, personality changes, and mood swings

Now everyone that has several of these symptoms may not have Candida, but it is something to check on. I will share a Home test you can perform.

Simple Home Test For Candida

First, you need to know if you have a problem with Candida. You can try this simple home test to find out.

First thing in the morning, before you put ANYTHING in your mouth, fill a clear glass with room temperature water.

Work up a bit of saliva, then spit it into the glass of water. Check the water every 15 minutes or so for up to one hour.

If you have a problem, you will see strings (like legs) traveling down into the water from the saliva floating on the top, or "cloudy" saliva will sink to the bottom of the glass, or cloudy specks will seem to be suspended in the water.

If there are no strings and the saliva is still floating after at least one hour, you probably have Candida under control, and have nothing to worry about.

The home test is a place to start. If you see strings or "cloudy" saliva that sinks, you need to work with a holistic medical doctor or a health professional to guide you in your diet and use of supplements to turn this problem around.

Your digestive tract is your first line of defense when it comes to your health. Getting guidance in this area will ease the burden on your immune system and restore balance to your digestive tract, leading to better health.

What Is Candida?

Candidiasis is the common name for a condition that results in the overproduction of a form of yeast normally found in the body at low levels.

Candida is not considered anything to worry about; however, recent research has put a spotlight on this form of yeast that is causing the medical profession to reconsider its totally benign assessment of candida. It is inside all of us – in the digestive tract, mouth, and throat. In women, it is also found in the vagina. The most common species of candida is called candida albicans.

When the human body is weakened it is vulnerable to attack. Consider that at all times various bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens are waging an unseen war against the body. Likewise, the immune system is always on guard, waiting for the attack. In response to outside invasion, the body produces various weapons to fight hostile aggression. Sometimes, if the body is weakened through a host of conditions and situations, the immune system cannot do its job properly.

One common condition caused by candida is thrush. Thrush is a buildup of candida that can effect men and women alike. As many as seventy-five percent of women will experience at least one vaginal yeast infection in their lifetime – caused by an overgrowth of candida.

These common conditions are annoying, but they do not represent the symptoms of chronic Candidiasis. Chronic overproduction of candida can lead to a wide range of physical and mental symptoms. It can manifest as abdominal pain, fatigue, skin infections, and even cognitive difficulties. There appears to be such an extent of problems related to candida overgrowth that candida is often dismissed as a cause.

In chronic Candidiasis, the rapidly multiplying candida changes form. It morphs into its dangerous fungal state and spreads.

The fungal form of candida produces rhizoids – hook-shaped barbed appendages that cut into tissue and membranes, causing pain and other harmful symptoms. If not treated, a condition called Leaky Gut Syndrome can develop in the intestinal tract.

Leaky Gut Syndrome allows toxins to leave the digestive tract and feed right into the bloodstream. It is also interesting to note that once someone begins treatment to kill the excess candida growth, the initial reaction to treatment will often result with the patient actually feeling worse! This is due to the fact that the fungal form of candida does not want to die and it fights like heck to survive!

In addition, there are indications that candidiasis can affect people who do not have compromised immune systems. New research has indicated that people who have healthy immune systems can also fall victim to the rhizoid-reach of candida. This is important because it presents a way for science to pinpoint root causes instead of simply treating symptoms.

Candida is most likely responsible for more problems than it is given credit for. Before you start treatment for candida, you should try and read up about the subject and fully understand what is involved. As with anything else, knowledge is power.

Recover from Candida by Taking this Oil?

Candida or candidiasis is an infection by Candida Albican - Albicans, a type of yeast. Moderate amounts of candida live in every one of us without causing any harm. But when given free rein to grow unchecked, candida can change into its fungal form and spore through the intestinal wall into the rest of the body. Once through, it rampages around the body producing a multitude of symptoms.

Symptoms of candida include infections of the mouth, vagina, nose, and respiratory system. Candida has been found to produce 79 distinct toxins. Victims of candida may experience pain, headaches, migraines, extreme fatigue, psoriasis, muscles aches, joint pains and arthritis. Symptoms in the intestines include bloatedness, diarrhoea, constipation, flatulence and itchy anus. Recurring fungal skin infections like athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm etc are typical symptoms too.

Vaginal thrush, which many women suffer from, is commonly caused by candida invading the vagina. The conditions candida likes best are warm, moist, airless parts of the body. This is why the vagina is the most common site for candida infection. Other areas of the body which are prone to candida infection include the groin, the mouth, and the nappy area in babies.

Candida thrives on foods that contain carbohydrates and sugar, particularly sugar as yeast loves sugar. Taking antibiotics, steroids, or oral contraceptives will kill off the "good" bacteria in the intestine, which allows candida to change into its fungal form. Stress contributes to its proliferation. And, because of its adaptability, candida is easily transmitted from person to person in a family.

Hundreds of thousands of people have systemic or entire body candida infections without realizing it. Systemic infections are infections in which candida grows out of control overrunning the digestive tract and affecting the entire body, including the reproductive system. However, most doctors treat candida like it was a localized problem.

Anti-candida creams can treat localized infections like vagina itching. However, yeast infections are persistent and often recur. If you have a whole body candida infection, these creams only treat the infections locally and temporarily. Fungal infections of one sort or another will flare up again, becoming an ongoing nuisance.

The solution for candida whole body infection is to cut sugar from your diet and to take caprylic acid. Caprylic acid, a medium chain acid derived from coconut oil, is one of the most potent non-drug or natural yeast-fighting substances. It is very effective against candida and other forms of fungi. Caprylic acid is commonly sold in combination with anti-fungal herbs in dietary supplements for patients with yeast infections. Fungal infections that have lasted for months can clear up in a matter of days using caprylic acid and a little coconut oil.

Polynesian women who eat their traditional coconut-based diet, rarely get yeast infections. The medium chain acids in coconut oil have anti-fungal properties and kill candida and other fungi in the intestinal tract, further supporting a healthy intestinal environment. Eating coconut oil on a regular basis, helps to keep candida at bay.

Prescription Medications For Candida and Their Side Effects

Pharmaceutical medications used to treat Candida, may cause patients to suffer from the following side effects: Hives, itching, swelling, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, rashes, or a drop in blood pressure. Reports have surfaced regarding the administration of pharmaceutical drugs such as: Diflucan, Mycostatin, Nilstat, Nystex, and Gemfibrozil. Side effects are an unfortunate factor that can never be anticipated. Due to the fact that some of the medications contain sugar, they may be unsuitable for diabetics. Additionally, some of the drugs listed above, can also increase the effects of other prescription drugs, resulting in dangerous side effects. As a result, while prescribing anticoagulants, insulin, oral diabetes medications or cholesterol-lowering drugs, a doctor must closely monitor a patient to make absolutely sure there are no contraindicative symptoms.

In addition to hazardous side effects from prescription drugs, which are used to treat Candida, many prescription drugs may actually contribute to the proliferation of Candida. The usage of steroids (cortisones), birth control pills, antacid, anti-ulcer medications, and antibiotics might cause the Candida yeast to multiply inside the body. Another factor to the growth of Candida is a diet extremely high in sugar. As sugar is rapidly metabolized by fungi (especially yeasts,) the growth of friendly bacteria is prevented.

Consultation with a medical doctor or holistic physician is really the only way to determine the best possible treatment for each individual. If traditional medicine fails to solve Candida, which is often a recurring problem—alternative treatment therapies are readily available.

Chronic Candidiasis

Candida is common and many people have Candida in their gastrointestinal tract. The problem arises when there is an overgrowth of the benign yeast Candida which causes the condition of chronic candidiasis or yeast syndrome. Chronic candidiasis normally occurs due to taking antibiotics which destroy the friendly bacteria in the gut which keep the Candida in check. Symptoms associated with chronic candidiasis are headaches, cystitis (infected bladder), mood swings, vaginitis (inflammation of vagina or thrush), fungal infections (e.g. athletes foot), bad breath, extensive food allergies, anal itching, feeling ill after eating yeast or sugary foods, nasal itch or congestion, craving for sugary things, abdominal distension or bloating, wind, diarrhoea, constipation or both, belching, indigestion, heartburn, depression, fatigue, poor memory, lack of sexual desire, craving for bread or alcohol, skin rashes, cold hands and feet, irritability, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, menstrual cramp or pain and muscle aches.

To combat chronic candidiasis, change the diet by excluding all refined carbohydrates such as white flour and sugar and all foods and beverages containing them and excluding all foods and beverages containing yeast such as marmite and alcohol. There are many cook books on the market that suggest recipes for those who are on an anti Candida diet. Try not to take any antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs or the contraceptive pill. Consume plenty of nature’s anti-fungal agents such as garlic and grapefruit seed extract. Take probiotics such as Bifidus and lactobacillus acidophilus to repopulate the bowel with good bacteria to make the bowel healthier. Symptoms may well become worst with the die off of the Candida on the anti Candida diet, so it would be wise to drink plenty of mineral water daily (at least a litre) to combat these symptoms.

The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Candida.
